Brand Shoot - Planning Guide

We’ve gotten to the heart of your brand with the questionnaire. You know your target audience, your values, and the key messages you want to convey through the imagery. Using these ideas together will make all the difference. This will help us create a visual story perfectly aligned with your brand. The planning process is vital to having a successful shoot.

Prepare Props and Accessories

Looking at the Pinterest boards we created. Let’s discover what we need to add to your shoot. Anything to represent your brand or add interest to the photos. Plan which of your products you want to include, tools of your trade, or items that reflect your personality. Try to have these items organized and ready to go for the day of the shoot.

Wardrobe

Choose outfits that represent your brand and helps you to feel confident. Avoid busy patterns or logos that may distract from your message. It's also a good idea to have a few options ready for variety. Include details such as belts, hair pieces, shoes, and jewelry; only where they make sense to your brand. Refer to your Pinterest board for inspiration.

Practice Poses and Expressions

Think about the image that you want to project through the photos and practice different poses and expressions in front of a mirror. This will help with confidence in front of the camera. The day of the shoot you will get plenty of guidance and I will work through different movements with you. It will only improve what we capture if you practice beforehand.

Hair / Makeup / Nails

I always recommend to have a makeup plan ahead of time, this is not a step to over look. If you are confident doing your own hair, makeup and nails, that is great. If not, this is a perfect excuse to get pampered with professional hair, makeup and a manicure. Choose colors that will complement your brand and not be distracting in the imagery. Visuals of what you are looking for are helpful to bring to the salon.

Location

Choose a location that aligns with your brand and enhances the story you want to tell. Whether it's your workspace, a coffee shop, or a natural setting, think about how the environment can complement your brand. Make sure I know your plan for location. I will need to figure out the best lighting for our needs.

Photo Releases

You will receive photography documents from me before we shoot. These will need to be signed by both of us 1 week before our scheduled shoot. They are standard practice to allow me to capture you and your work in the location we have planned and to edit the images afterward. Depending on the shoot, it may include model, product, and location releases.

That’s it for now. Contact me with any questions!
